Fawlty Towers star Prunella Scales is suffering from "mild Alzheimer's", her husband Timothy West has revealed.

The actor, 79, talks about Scales' condition in a new documentary called Grand Canal Journeys.

The 81-year-old actress is best known for her role as Basil Fawlty's wife Sybil in the comedy with John Cleese but has had a successful career since.

West tells the programme, which is broadcast on More4 later this month, that Scales suffers from "a sort of mild Alzheimer's", the Radio Times said.
