Try Getting This Close To An Active Volcano Without A GoPro (VIDEO)

WATCH: Try Getting This Close To An Active Volcano Without A GoPro

A volcanic eruption is not something you'd typically get to see up close and live to remember it. Fortunately, now we have GoPros and radio-controlled helicopters to help us experience the event from a safe distance.

In a recent YouTube upload, Shaun O'Callaghan flew a DJI Phantom about as close to a volcano as he could get without ruining his drone.

O'Callaghan flew the Phantom above Mount Yasur, one of the most active volcanos in the world. Located on Vanuatu's Tanna Island in the South Pacific Ocean, the volcano is frequently spewing lava as seen in the video.

According to the YouTube description, he managed to do it without destroying any of his valuable equipment.
