Darrelle Revis Reportedly To Sign With Patriots And Jets Fans Are Definitely Freaking Out

REPORT: Patriots Sign Revis

New England appears ready to annex Revis Island.

Free agent cornerback Darrelle Revis has agreed with the New England Patriots on a 1-year deal worth $12 million, according to ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter. The report came just hours after Revis was released by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Wednesday afternoon.

Citing unnamed league sources, Schefter reported that Revis has yet to pass a physical or sign the contract with the Patriots, but "quickly" agreed to terms after being released by the Bucs.

Shortly after Schefter's initial report, Revis' marketing and business manager, John Geiger, tweeted that no deal was agreed upon.

As of now, nothing has been agreed to with Revis and Patriots.

Revis, 28, spent the first six seasons of his seven-year NFL career with the New York Jets before being traded to Tampa Bay last offseason. Understandably, Jets fans and bloggers didn't seem pleased by the possibility that the 5-time Pro Bowl corner who sequestered the NFL's top wide receivers on "Revis Island" during his standout stint in New Jersey was heading for New England.

As Jets fans were busy lamenting the reported relocation of Revis, the team chimed in with a "BREAKING" announcement of its own.

While the Jets' acquisition of Giacomini may prove a wise one, the timing of the tweet didn't exactly reinvigorate those despondent fans.
