The wife of NFL running back Darren Sproles was not happy with the way her husband was treated by the New Orleans Saints. After learning that the team planned on trading her husband rather than releasing him as had expected, Michel Sproles expressed her "disappointment" in a post on Instagram on Wednesday. The post was subsequently deleted but the discontent lives on.

Days before NFL free agency began, Ian Rapoport of NFL.com reported that the Saints were releasing Sproles. It would seem that his family was planning accordingly.

The Saints then changed their reported plans at the eleventh hour due to increased interest in the running back from other teams, as first reported by Adam Schefter of ESPN on Tuesday. Making the change in plans all the more jarring, the 30-year-old NFL veteran appeared to learn of it on Twitter.

The speedy playmaker would tell ESPN's Josina Anderson that he preferred to be released so that he choose his destination.

"I don't know where they would send me because I have no control over it and I want to be able to pick," he told Anderson. "The good thing is none of the teams I'm told they're talking to are terrible."

The Saints ended up trading the 30-year-old to the Philadelphia Eagles in exchange for a fifth round NFL draft pick, Schefter reported on Thursday.
