How Wisdom Can Lead To Behavior Changes

How Rewiring Your Brain Starts With Wisdom

In conjunction with the release of Arianna Huffington's book "Thrive: The Third Metric to Redefining Success and Creating a Life of Well-Being, Wisdom, and Wonder," HuffPost Live is taking a closer look at wisdom and the importance of building it throughout our lives.

Judson Brewer, the director of research at the Center for Mindfulness, spoke to HuffPost Live's Caroline Modarressy-Tehrani about the value of wisdom in helping us break out of self-destructive patterns.

"It's about paying attention," he said of the process of "developing and fostering wisdom."

"Whether it's smoking, whether it's eating unhealthy foods," he continued, "[it's] really just [about] seeing what we're getting from what we're doing and really have[ing] that wisdom just kind of unfold naturally from that, and that just leads to behavior change."
