Bobby Jindal Calls On Vance McAllister To Resign After Cheating Scandal

Jindal Calls On Cheating Congressman To Resign

MONROE, La. (AP) — Republican Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal is calling for the resignation of one of his state's GOP congressmen who was videotaped kissing a married woman who is not his wife.

Jindal called Rep. Vance McAllister's behavior "an embarrassment."

The governor said Thursday in a statement that if McAllister wants privacy as he's claimed, "the best way to get privacy and work on putting his family back together is to resign from Congress."

McAllister's office says "as of now, there are no plans of resignation."

McAllister defeated one of Jindal's close allies in the November special election to take the congressional seat.

Jindal's call for resignation joins that of the chairman of the state GOP, Roger Villere, who issued a blistering statement describing McAllister's behavior as "a breach of trust."
