A Florida high school teacher is accused of having sex with one of her students 20 to 30 times in her pickup truck.
The Tampa Tribune reports that Jennifer Christine Fichter, 29, was arrested Monday night in Lakeland. Police say her victim's mother found suspicious text messages that traced back to the Central Florida Aerospace Academy English teacher.
Cops said the encounters happened over the course of four months, beginning last November. The couple had sex early in the morning on several occasions, according to a police report obtained by the Tribune.
The report also said Fichter got an abortion after becoming pregnant with the student's child.
After the victim's mom found the allegedly incriminating texts, she confronted Fichter, who admitted to the allegations and said she and the victim were in love, police said. That conversation was recorded by police, according to the Orlando Sentinel.
My News 13 spoke with parents of students in Fichter's class. Some said she was a good teacher, but one, who asked the station not to identify them, said the teacher was "more flirty than you would think she should be."
Fichter is charged with six counts of unlawful sexual activity with a minor.
