Here's a championship fight you didn't expect to see: the first queens of comedy going head-to-head with the Galactic Empire.

Amy Poehler and Tina Fey's recently announced comedy "The Nest" has secured a Dec. 18, 2015, release -- the same day "Star Wars: Episode VII" barrels into theaters. If that seems like a silly decision for the Universal comedy, consider the fact that "The Nest" acts as a solid antithesis for the much-anticipated sequel. There's no way it'll come close to the box office intake J.J. Abrams' epic sees, but "Star Wars" detractors can embrace the holiday movie rush without having to sit through another three hours of The Force. At this point, a Poehler/Fey comedy is all but guaranteed to be a hit, even opposite a behemoth like that.

Compared to "Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith," whose only opening-weekend competition was the reviled "Dominion: Prequel to the Exorcist," the seventh installment is now part of a crowded release schedule. In addition to "The Nest," the adaptation of Dan Brown's "Inferno" is scheduled to open that day as well.

"The Nest" depicts two sisters who, while cleaning out their childhood home, throw a raging party for their old high school classmates. Jason Moore ("Pitch Perfect," "Dawson's Creek") will direct the movie based on a script by Paula Pell ("Saturday Night Live," "30 Rock").
