What Desmond Tutu Can Teach World Leaders About Forgiveness

The Archbishop Emeritus of Capetown, Desmond Tutu, joined HuffPostLive together with his daughter Rev. Mpho Tutu to discuss their new work "The Book of Forgiving." In the book, they teach and share practical steps to to forgiveness.

In the interview with HuffPostLive host Caroline Modarressy-Tehrani, the Archbishop said asking for forgiveness shows nobility and maturity -- a that's a lesson world leaders should bear in mind.

"You can recognize the good points as well as the weaknesses in oneself, in one's country. It enhances the stature of the person and the nation that agrees to undertake that step."

"Forgiveness is an incredible act of courage," Rev. Mpho Tutu added. "To ask for forgiveness is an act that requires great strength and considerable courage."
