Greg Abbott Launches Star Wars Attack On Wendy Davis

Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott (R) unleashed his political lightsaber in a new governor's race ad against state Sen. Wendy Davis (D).

Abbott's Thursday attack has a Star Wars theme, accusing Davis of being someone who will "threaten gun rights... promote higher taxes... And remove freedom from the galaxy..."

The ad emerges days after Abbott rejected Davis' request to participate in a series of six debates. At a Wednesday evening campaign event in Dallas, Davis said Abbott was "hiding" from more head-to-head events because he is "too afraid to speak for himself" and "explain his record." Abbott's campaign told the Houston Chronicle Tuesday that he was "already committed" to two televised debates and therefore had to "respectfully decline."

HuffPost Pollster's latest compilation of nine publicly available polls shows Abbott holding a double-digit edge over Davis, with a 90 percent confidence of lead.
