Why You Shouldn't Wait For A Health Scare To Reduce Your Stress

Why You Shouldn't Wait For A Health Scare To Reduce Your Stress

According to the American Psychological Association, 60 percent of adults were trying to reduce their stress in 2012 -- and more than half of them were failing at it. What's more, 60 to 90 percent of doctor visits are for stress-related conditions, according to the Benson-Henry Institute for Mind Body Medicine at Massachusetts General Hospital.

So why aren't we making our well-being more of a priority? HuffPost's President and Editor-in-Chief Arianna Huffington tackles this issue in her new book, Thrive: The Third Metric to Redefining Success and Creating a Life of Well-Being, Wisdom, and Wonder. It may have taken a health scare to prompt Huffington to make changes to her stressed-out life, but that doesn't mean you have to wait for a catastrophe to be jarred into taking care of yourself.
