North Dakota Tornado Captured On Camera Getting Terrifyingly Close (VIDEO)

Footage uploaded by an amateur cameraman this week captures the sheer terror that a mighty twister can provoke.

According to the New York Daily News, Dan Yorgason was in his trailer on Monday evening when a massive tornado touched down near his Watford City, N.D., home.

Whipping out his camera, Yorgason filmed the storm as it approached -- the twister rapidly getting too close for comfort.

"Dude, where do we go?" Yorgason's neighbor can be heard yelling in the clip. "We've got nowhere to go!"

The Daily News reports that Yorgason and his neighbor, barefoot and without most of their belongings, hopped into a truck and rushed to get out of the twister's path.

"I was laughing a lot, but it was not because I thought it was funny. I was panicking," Yorgason told the newspaper. "I knew I had to get out of there. You know how trailer parks are with tornadoes."

According to the National Weather Service, a tornado with winds of up to 120 miles per hour landed about 5 miles south of Watford City on Monday. Yorgason's trailer complex was reportedly spared, but a nearby RV park suffered major damage.

Nine people were injured in the storm; one of them critically, reports The Associated Press.

Monday's tornado has prompted a discussion about better storm safety in North Dakota. No sirens or local alert system warned people of the approaching twister, the AP reports; and "even with warning, there are scant places to take cover in the wide-open plain."
