Cardinals Star Delivers Third Homer In Third Straight Game In Front Of His Father (VIDEO)

WATCH: Cardinals Star Gets Dad Exactly What He Wanted

St. Louis Cardinals slugger Matt Adams gave his dad exactly what he wanted for Father's Day.

After Adams hit a homer in his second straight game since returning from the DL on Saturday against the Nationals, his father Jamie told Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports that he would like to see his son hit another home run on Father's Day. The 25-year-old delivered.

In the bottom of the second inning on Sunday, Adams launched an 0-2 pitch from Washington's Doug Fister to the seats in right field for his third homer in three games. The home run, Adams' fifth of the season, gave the Cardinals an early 2-0 lead and they went on to win 5-2. His three homers and four RBIs in St. Louis' three-game sweep over Washington all came in front of his dad.

"He's very proud of me, and he likes how I go out and compete and work hard," Adams said after the game on Sunday, via MLB.com. "That's something that he tried to instill in me when I was younger is the work ethic you need to be good at whatever you do. It's definitely paid off, and I thank him for that."
