Britney Spears Is Single, Rumors Of David Lucado Cheating Swirl

Britney Spears Tweets About 'The Single Life,' Is Indeed Single

Britney Spears is back on the singles market.

The 32-year-old songstress took to Twitter Thursday, August 28, to announce her new status after breaking things off with her boyfriend of 18 months, David Lucado.

Spears wrote:

Followed by a semi-cryptic Instagram post captioned "when you're having a shitty day":

A rep for Spears confirmed the news to Billboard, saying "Yes, she's single."

The reason for the split might be a cheating scandal, according to multiple sources. TMZ claims a video surfaced some weeks ago showing Lucado with another woman. The video was allegedly purchased by none other than Spears' father, according to TMZ, so that it will never see the light of day.

"She is heartbroken," a source told E! News. "She is in Vegas. But she will get through it. She's a strong girl and he was never right for her."

Back in November, Spears gushed to Entertainment Tonight about Lucado, saying she adores him. "He's just a simple man," she said at the time. "He's really funny and he's really passionate. I love the fact that anything he's involved in he's passionate about and it's contagious."

Before meeting Lucado, Spears was engaged to Jason Trawick. The two never married.

Spears has two sons, Sean and Jayden, from ex-husband Kevin Federline. She was also briefly married to childhood friend Jason Alexander, a Vegas wedding that was later annulled.
