Rep. Matt Salmon (R-Ariz.) defeated Democrat James Woods in Arizona's 5th District Tuesday.

Salmon was elected to Congress in 2012, though he also served in the U.S. House of Representatives from 1994 to 2000. He ran unopposed in this year's Republican primary.

In 2013, Salmon attracted attention for saying that he did not support same-sex marriage despite having a gay son.
