Tanya Brown Compares Ray Rice's Abuse To OJ Simpson Case: ‘If He Does This Again, He Could Kill Her'

Nicole Brown Simpson's Sister Compares Ray Rice To OJ Simpson

After Baltimore Ravens running back Ray Rice was suspended indefinitely following the release of a video showing the brutal beating of his then-fiancee, the conversation around domestic abuse has reached new heights.

Tanya Brown, whose sister Nicole Brown Simpson's death was at the center of the infamous murder trial of her husband OJ Simpson, spoke out on Rice and warned that future violence could erupt if the case is not handled with care during an interview with HuffPost Live.

“When I saw the video tape, I had a visceral reaction because now I know what it looked like when my sister was beaten,” she said. “So believe me, I have some anger built up, but we’re not going to make change in this world if people aren't educated on this, take responsibility on this and understand that if he does this again, he could kill her. So we need to take this very seriously.”

Brown, who is now a speaker for domestic violence prevention, drew parallels between Janay Rice’s domestic abuse and the problems her own sister faced in her relationship with Simpson.

“You’re gonna raise a hand to a woman of that stature, that height and that weight, you can knock her out like what we saw, and end up like Nicole,” she told host Josh Zepps. “My ex brother-in-law, he couldn’t control his anger, and he lashed it out on my sister. And she ended up getting killed. So this is not anything to be taken lightly.”
