When Kimberly Munley, the cop who stopped the 2009 Fort Hood shooter, calls you a hero, you know you've accomplished something.
In a Facebook post, Munley praised a girl who dominated a male JROTC cadet in a pushup contest Sept. 6 at Independence Mall in Wilmington, North Carolina.
At 10 years old, Kaylyn Mintz may not have looked like a formidable opponent to the challenger WECT identifies as a Lejeune High School cadet, but wow. Kaylyn cranked out pushups by the dozens, while the cadet eventually broke form and finally quit.
The event was part of a fundraiser in which cadets took on onlookers in fitness challenges. Munley, raised in nearby Carolina Beach, filmed the face-off.
"OMG!!!! This little girl is my new little hero!!!" Munley wrote on Facebook.
Turns out that Kaylyn comes by her strength as a competitive gymnast.
Tiffany Gomes, Kaylyn's coach at Port City Gymnastics in Wilmington, told The Huffington Post that Kaylyn does pushups regularly in practice.
