Jon Stewart Perfectly Sums Up The Midterm Election Campaigns

It's debate season and candidates are making a last-ditch effort to distinguish themselves and win your vote in the midterm elections. But as Jon Stewart found out on Wednesday night's "Daily Show," both Democrats and Republicans aren't exactly running on ideas. They're just hoping the other candidate screws up really, really badly.

"You could form a cogent argument," Stewart said. "Or you could stand there quietly and wait for your opponent's dick to slip out of his pants."

And that's led to some pretty awkward moments, like Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell's dance around the website for his state's healthcare exchange or Democratic Senate candidate Alison Grimes refusing to say whether she voted for President Barack Obama.

Stewart concluded that most candidates are really just running on "how much they hate themselves."

Check out the clip above for more bizarre exchanges and accusations as well as the one thing everyone seems to be running on this election cycle: Fear.
