G.K. Butterfield Wins Midterm Race In North Carolina

Rep. G.K. Butterfield (D-N.C.) was re-elected to Congress Tuesday from North Carolina's 1st District, defeating Republican business consultant Arthur Rich.

Butterfield, who was first elected to the House of Representatives in 2004, previously served on the state's Supreme Court. He currently serves as the Chief Deputy Whip of the House Democratic Caucus.

Rich mounted an unsuccessful primary bid in 2012 to be the Republican candidate for lieutenant governor.
