Rep. Louie Gohmert (R-Texas) defeated his opponent, Democrat Shirley McKellar, in Tuesday's midterm election.
Gohmert was first elected to represent Texas' 1st congressional district in 2004. He previously faced McKellar at the polls in 2012.
Gohmert didn't seem worried ahead of this election, noting in June 2014 he thought Latino voters would start backing Republican candidates because the GOP believes in God.
