Mark Meadows Wins Midterm Election Race In North Carolina

Rep. Mark Meadows (R-N.C.) defeated Democrat and retired physicist Tom Hill in North Carolina's 11th District Tuesday.

Meadows, who was as first elected to Congress in 2012, previously worked as a real estate developer. He was favored to win in the Republican-leaning district.

The Republican was one of the main backers of the Republican-led government shutdown last year, though the area encompassing his district lost as much as $1 million per day during because its national parks were forced to close.
