Pair Arrested After Body Found In Back Of Burning Car

Two people in Arkansas were arrested after police found a charred body in the back of a burning car.

Nathaniel Talkington, 25, is suspected of first-degree murder in the case. Police found a vehicle ablaze on the side of the road near Knoxville on Nov. 1, and found a body when they pried open the trunk, according to the Times Record.

They collared Talkington, of Pope County, during a traffic stop on Wednesday afternoon, shortly after prosecutors filed an arrest warrant. His passenger, Kristen Horn, was taken into custody for questioning, 5 News Online reports. It's unclear whether she will face charges.

The identity of the victim remains unclear pending an autopsy. On Saturday, firefighters had been battling the blaze when they discovered the badly burned body. The fire destroyed the vehicle's license plate and VIN.

Talkington reportedly has an extensive criminal history, and was on probation when he was arrested. He has threatened "suicide by cop" in the past, according to the Times Record. He'll be interviewed and transported to the Johnson County Detention Center before his first hearing, according to Arkansas Matters.
