Hospital Patient Launches Pipe Attack On Everyone In Sight

A 68-year-old hospital patient went on a pipe-wielding rampage before dying in police custody.

The video above shows Charles Emmett Logan chasing and striking terrified nurses inside St. John's Hospital in Maplewood, Minnesota, early Sunday morning, according to KARE.

WARNING: The above video may be disturbing to some audiences.

One nurse suffered a collapsed lung and another received treatment for a broken wrist.

The Pioneer Press reports that police eventually tackled Logan three blocks from the hospital. Once an officer put handcuffs on him, Logan went limp, cops said.

He was returned to the hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

Logan had not been prone to violent fits before, police told the Pioneer Press. He was being treated for "bouts of confusion and delusions," the paper reports.

"This was very out of character," Maplewood Police Chief Paul Schnell said. "We're talking about like a salt-of-the-earth kind of guy."
