Mother, Insurance Executive Murdered While Out For Late Jog

Detectives in Connecticut are investigating the death of a woman who police say was fatally stabbed in the chest while out for an evening jog.

Melissa Millan, 54, was found injured near a bike trail in Simsbury around 8 p.m., Thursday, according to Fox Connecticut.

The mother and senior vice president at the Massachusetts Mutual Life Insurance Co. of Springfield was rushed to a hospital, where she later died.

Police confirmed that the death was determined to be a homicide, according to MassLive.

At a vigil on Sunday, friends and family remembered Milan as a mother, friend, executive and athlete.

"She was really just an amazingly special person," Lynne Tapper, Millan's friend, told WFSB. "She just made you feel like you were the most important person when she was talking to you and when she was thinking about you."

Anyone with information on the case is asked to call Simsbury police at 860-658-3145. No suspects have been identified at this time.
