A former Playboy model says that multiple media outlets got the story wrong when they claimed her father killed himself because of her nude photos.
Loredana Chivu, 25, appeared in the Romanian version of the girly mag in (NSFW link) June 2009. This week, the New York Daily News, the Daily Mail and the Mirror — among other sites — published stories claiming that Chivu attributes her father’s suicide to the revealing spread.
Chivu, however, said in a Facebook post on Thursday that her father took his life more than a year before she ever appeared in the magazine. Calling articles that state otherwise “totally false,” she writes that her father “loved me enormously.” She maintains that she did not let him down.
The news sites, mentioned above, all claim that Chivu says her father “stopped speaking” to her after she did Playboy.
Chivu has not responded to a request for comment from The Huffington Post.
Europics, the photo agency credited with providing images of Chivu to the New York Daily News, has also not responded to a HuffPost request for comment.
HuffPost software engineer Dan Fratean, who translated Chivu's Facebook posts, contributed to this report.
