Citrus is an essential cocktail ingredient, but do you know all of the secrets for getting the most out of your lemons, limes and other fruits?

Jeffrey Morgenthaler, author of The Bar Book, gives us his best tips for juicing, buying, storing and everything else you can imagine. Then he's showing us his take on the classic French 75! Watch the video above for all of Morgenthaler's advice or make the recipe below.

French 75
1 oz. Citrus-forward Gin
1 oz. Fresh Lemon Juice
.5 oz. 2:1 Simple Syrup
Cracked ice
2 oz. Champagne or Sparkling Wine
1 Lemon Peel for Garnish

Combine the gin, lemon juice and simple syrup in a cocktail shaker or mixing glass. Fill with cracked ice and shake. Add the Champagne to the shaker. Strain into the Collins glass. Twist the peel over the surface of the cocktail and drop it in the drink to serve.
