When obstructionists and demagogues on the national level spread misinformation and fear, it gets attention.
We hear about it when Congressman Steve King calls for an electrified wire border fence, arguing "we do that with livestock all the time."
In April, Immigrants' List unveiled its National Immigration Hall of Shame, exposing the 10 Washington politicians most obstructing substantive immigration reform.
Now, we want to bring that same spotlight to local elected officials.
We know about a state rep. in Kansas who said, "It looks like to me if shooting these immigrating feral hogs works maybe we have found a [solution] to our illegal immigration problem."
We know legislators in many states are pushing for copycats of the Arizona bill.
And we know of countless examples of politicians engaging in extremism for their own political advantage, thinking that nobody's paying attention.
Tell them we're paying attention.
Nominate a politician for the Local Immigration Hall of Shame.
