The Story
If you're looking to amp up your Tinder profile, good news. A matchmaking company that utilizes algorithms based on people's preferences and desires, DatingFound, has done some dirty work for you. (No, not that kind.) They conducted an online dating experimental study of 6,830 singles and more than 10,000 images to see what type of photo is going to get you a swipe right. (Spoiler: it's definitely not a naked one.)

While you may love those images with your buddies from college or think a shirtless selfie will make a woman drool over your pecs, DatingFound begs to differ. According to their study, women gravitate toward four types of photos in guys' online dating profiles -- in this specific order:
- Ones where you look confident (aka, chest wide, head tilted upwards)
- Ones where you're doing something fun (think: that skiing snapshot or one from your triathlon, or, drinking pints in London will do, too)
- Ones that show the left side of your face (as opposed to your right, which doesn't feel as trustworthy)
- Ones where you look happy (That means those random bathroom selfies where you attempt a duck face should be deleted from your phone immediately)
While most of them make sense -- confidence shows you'll take the lead in planning dates and possibly, in a relationship and in bed, happiness is way more attractive than complaining about your work over happy hour, and of course, when you're dating, you're looking for someone who will be a fun partner in crime. But why the left side of your face? Research actually shows that the left side of anyone's face is identified as more attractive than the right side. (Just think: Mona Lisa, most magazine covers). So at your next music festival (or trivia night at the pub), tilt your face toward the left, smile and stand up tall.
