Historical Mystery Fiction Writer of smart female sleuth + Screenwriter + Adj. Prof Creative Writing + Women's Advocate for Equality in Media

Abra Deering Norton is a writer and screenwriter. She recently completed her suspenseful historical mystery novel about the first female sleuth. She received her MFA in Screenwriting from UCLA, and is an Adjunct Professor of Creative Writing. She is an advocate for women's equality in media, Hollywood, publishing, and the arts. She founded WEW #WomenEmpoweringWomen. Her short fiction and poetry have been published in various literary journals. Her essays and freelance columns have appeared in The Wrap, Los Angeles Times, The Huffington Post, SheKnows.com. In Hollywood, she worked as a Story Analyst for United Talent Agency and a Film Analyst for the film studios. She co-wrote, produced and directed an original animated test film for Amazon Studios which won awards. She co-wrote and developed a screenplay, The Baby Whisperer with Fox/Davis. Most recently, she co-wrote a screenplay which placed in the Top 20% of the Academy Nicholl Fellowship screenplay competition. She is a mom, wife, border collie walker, once got a toe on the red carpet, and has flown a Cessna when it was snowing.
