Alicia Semaka

Certified Genetic Counselor

Alicia Semaka is a certified genetic counselor who received her doctorate degree in medical genetics. Her doctoral research focused on predictive testing for Huntington’s disease. She is currently completing her postdoctoral fellowship at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, Canada. Her postdoctoral research explores how genetic counseling impacts outcomes for individuals affected by psychiatric illnesses including schizophrenia, bipolar, and schizoaffective disorder. She holds a Canadian Institute for Health Research Postdoctoral Award and a Michael Smith Foundation for Health Research Knowledge Translation in Science Postdoctoral Award.
