Amy Sewell

Writer, Filmmaker, Operations Manager for Women Make Movies (wmm.com)

Amy Sewell, writer/producer, is best known for award-winning, audience-favorite Mad Hot Ballroom (Paramount, 2005) – which is currently in development as a Broadway musical (Fox Theatricals). Amy’s directorial debut was What’s Your Point, Honey? (NYC-TV Ch.25, iTunes, Amazon.com, 2008) followed by documentary short Blindspot (U.S. Dept. of Education/Association for the Blind/YouTube, 2010). A published author, her books include The Mad Hot Adventures of a Documentary Filmmaker (Hyperion, 2007) and She's Out There! The Next Generation of Presidential Candidates (LifeTime Media, 2009). Sewell is currently producing documentary short, Good Muslim Girls, about two young defiant Iraqi women with Marilyn Agrelo. She is also finishing work on a fiction book and complimentary TV series and at work on a second fiction book. Sewell serves on the Advisory Board of Reel Works Teen Filmmaking. She is a graduate from The University of Michigan, has an MBA and currently is working on her MFA in Creative Writing from Stonybrook University.
