Co-executive director, Center for Popular Democracy

Ana María Archila is Co-Executive Director at the Center for Popular Democracy. The Center for Popular Democracy (CPD) promotes equity, opportunity, and a dynamic democracy in partnership with innovative base-building organizations, organizing networks and alliances and progressive unions across the country. CPD builds the strength and capacity of democratic organizations to envision and advance a pro-worker, pro-immigrant, racial and economic justice agenda.

Before joining CPD, Ana Maria served as Co-Executive Director of Make the Road New York (MRNY) for 16 years. Before that, she was the Executive Director of the Latin American Integration Center. Ana María emigrated to the U.S. from Colombia at the age of 17 and has become a leading advocate for civil rights, health care access, education equity, and immigrant rights in New York State, and nationally. She was awarded a Coro fellowship in 2004, the year after she became Executive Director of LAIC, and the Edna Award in 2011.
