Andrew Self is an Infantry Officer in the United States Army National Guard. He holds a BA in International Affairs and is an MA candidate in Middle East Studies at The George Washington University. He has lived extensively in the Middle East and Turkey and speaks Arabic and Turkish. He currently works as a researcher for Dr. Gonul Tol at the Center for Turkish Studies at the Middle East Institute in Washington, DC. Andrew has also been a contributor to the Istanbul based daily, Today’s Zaman.
