Antonio Roldán Monés

Economist

As an analyst for the Eurasia Group, Antonio Roldan Mones focuses on Spain and Portugal, with particular emphasis on the political economy of the financial sector and structural reforms. He also focuses on broader developments of the economic governance of the eurozone.

Prior to joining Eurasia Group, Antonio worked as an economist in the Directorate General of Economic and Financial Affairs at the European Commission (DGECFIN) and the European Parliament as well as for the Institute for New Economic Thinking. He writes regularly for El Pais and The Huffington Post.

Antonio holds an MA in International Relations from the University of Sussex and MPA in Economic Policy from Columbia University's School of International and Public Affairs. He is also a PhD candidate in European political economy at the London School of Economics specializing on the effects of credit booms on institutions, with a particular focus on Spain. He was a fellow of the Fundacion Caja Madrid for his studies in the United States.
