Bonnie Amos

Former First Lady of the U.S. Marines, Hiring Our Heroes Senior Advisor

Born and raised in Pensacola, Florida, Bonnie was a recent college graduate working at a local bank when she met her future husband, Jim, while he was a student pilot in Pensacola. From October 2010 until September 2014 Mrs. Amos served alongside General Amos while he was Commandant of the United States Marie Corps. A military spouse of 42 years, with 29 household moves under her belt, Bonnie has been a longtime advocate for veterans and military spouses, volunteering in support of family readiness at numerous installations and championing wounded warriors and their caregivers. To help with veteran and military spouse unemployment, Bonnie now serves as a senior advisor and spokesperson to Hiring Our Heroes, educating job seekers and employers alike, at events across the country on the skills and values that military veterans and spouses bring to organizations. In addition to Medal of Honor recipient Sgt. Dakota Meyers, Amos will also speak of the value of the specific military spouse and veteran online resume-building resources My Career Spark and the Personal Branding Resume Engine. Bonnie has a long history of supporting and enhancing the wellbeing of military families. She is actively involved as a member of the Military Spouse of the Year program, Advisor to Charlotte BridgeHome, Advisor to Thanks USA, and a member of the Board of Directors for the Injured Marine Semper Fi Fund/America’s Fund.
