Brandon Deroche

Founder, Propeller

For over ten years, Brandon Deroche has been working at the crossroads of music, social good & tech. He has advised and led campaigns for some of the largest personalities in the world, leveraging their influence and reach to support causes. Deroche started his ventures at Causecast, where as Music Director he organized projects that used music as incentive to engage people with causes. Notably, he managed “Download to Donate," a campaign in partnership with Music For Relief that featured exclusive music and giveaways from artists such as Jack Johnson, The Glitch Mob, Linkin Park, Weezer, Peter Gabriel and more, raising over $400,000 for the Haiti and Japan earthquake relief efforts. From there, Deroche went on to become the director of The Make Yourself Foundation for the band Incubus, and is on the advisory board for The David Lynch Foundation Live. Expanding on the idea of creating incentive driven action, Deroche co-founded The Urgency Network, where he successfully developed numerous campaigns with influencers like Sir Paul McCartney, Sir Richard Branson, Skrillex, Thom Yorke, David Lynch, Ram Dass, and more in support of nonprofits such as Greenpeace, Music for Relief, Oxfam, Carbon War Room, and nearly 60 organizations in total. Most recently, Deroche launched Propeller - an online community where members earn points for completing socially conscious actions. A regular contributor to The Huffington Post, Deroche often writes about music’s role in creating social change. Currently living in Venice Beach, Deroche sometimes misses the days of playing guitar and touring the world with his indie band, The Underwater, but not enough to go back on the road with six other dudes in a van.
