CAITLIN CROSBY – Bio

It was the words Ugly, Broke and Hungry, written on a piece of cardboard that truly changed the momentum in Caitlin Crosby’s life. Inspired by a New York hotel key, Caitlin began making and selling her key jewelry while on tour and encouraging people to not only wear the keys, but also to pay them forward as a gift of hope and inspiration. This heart-felt project morphed into a life-long mission when Caitlin stopped to speak to the homeless couple holding that sign. She soon founded “The Giving Keys,” an organization that helps transition people out of homelessness through employment at the accessories line. The line of necklaces, bracelets, rings, cell phone covers and more features unique keys that are stamped with inspirational words and are a source of strength for its recipients.

Four years later, the line is thriving; it is sold in more than 400 retail stores, including Fred Segal, Kitson, Henri Bendel and Opening Ceremony. More than 15 employees work at the newly inhabited headquarters in Los Angeles and the line became a celebrity favorite with supporters such as Ryan Gosling, One Direction’s Harry Styles, Taylor Swift and Selena Gomez. “The Giving Keys” has collaborated with such transitional homes and organizations as PATH, United Way and Chrysalis and prides itself on promoting other great projects that are affecting change. The Giving Keys has now also partnered up with TOMS shoes and is a part of their Marketplace.

Caitlin was asked to do a TED x Talk in 2013 called “Love Is The Key.” She was featured in a LEVI'S jeans campaign and modeled for them worldwide. Caitlin was chosen as a spokesperson for Oprah’s “Top 10 Favorite Charities” for O magazine’s 10-year anniversary & Oprah's Live Your Best Life events. Last year, KTLA News did multiple features on Caitlin as their "Hometown Hero." Caitlin and her Giving Keys have now been featured on The Today Show, Ellen, The Huffington Post, Teen Vogue, People, Elle, Harpers Bazaar, etc.

Multi-faceted as ever, she recently released her second album, Save That Pillow, an evocative six song EP that blends a retro-soul and folk vibe. The album, executive produced by Adam Anders and produced and co-written with Boots Ottestad (Robbie Williams, Macy Gray), showcases the depth and range of Caitlin’s lyrics and vocals. This first time collaboration with label Deep Well Records re-emphasizes the anthem of self-love and empowerment that her 2009 release Flawz, began. Flawz received rave reviews and featured the online hit “Finding Feelings.” Her full length album will be released Jan 2015. She has also appeared in primetime in such hits as The Hard Times of RJ Berger, Malcolm in the Middle, That ’70s Show and Seventh Heaven.

Caitlin is also the co-creator of loveyourflawz.com, a website that encourages visitors to celebrate their flaws rather than trying to live up to impossible, unfair standards that have been re-emphasized by the media.
