Canden Schwantes

Canden Schwantes is a historian and tour guide in Washington, DC and runs Free Tours By Foot, an international walking tour company. When she isn’t showing tourists and locals alike around the sites of her favorite neighborhoods, Canden volunteers at the Historical Society of Washington, DC. With a BA from Elon University and Masters from University College London, both in History, researching (and talking about) the stories of our past continues to be a favorite pastime. Canden has a penchant for historical fiction, off-trail hiking and traveling to new locales. Her most recent book Wicked Georgetown: Scoundrels, Sinners and Spies was released in May so she is now researching the scandalous stories of the women in the District.
