University Professor, Syracuse; Co-author, 'Better Capitalism'

Carl Schramm is regarded as one of the world's leading authorities on economic growth and entrepreneurship. He is University Professor at Syracuse, a visiting scientist at MIT and a fellow at the Institute for Business Innovation at UC Berkeley. For 10 years he was president of the Kauffman Foundation making it a center for research on the economics of entrepreneurship. His latest book, coauthored with Bob Litan, is Better Capitalism, recently published by Yale. Their previous book, Good Capitalism/Bad Capitalism with William Baumol, has been translated into 11 languages. Schramm has founded or co-founded five companies in the health information and financial risk sectors. He began his career as a professor at Johns Hopkins where he established the first research center in the nation focused on the problem of health care costs.
