Carolyn Zaikowski is the author of the novels In a Dream, I Dance by Myself, and I Collapse (Civil Coping Mechanisms, 2016) and A Child Is Being Killed (Aqueous Books, 2013). Her fiction and poetry, as well as her essays on language, human rights, and animal rights, have been published widely. She holds an MFA in Creative Writing from Naropa University's Jack Kerouac School of Disembodied Poetics, where she studied psychological trauma and its impact on language. She has taught English and democracy studies in the USA and abroad, including in Kolkata, India's red light districts and to political exiles at the Thailand/Burma border.
