Caryn Mirriam-Goldberg

Kansas Poet Laureate Emeritus, and Founder of Transformative Language Arts at Goddard College

Caryn Mirriam-Goldberg is the 2009-13 Kansas Poet Laureate, author or editor of 20 books, and founder of Transformative Language Arts, a MA degree on social and individual transformation through the spoken, written and sung word at Goddard College, where she teaches. Her recent books including Chasing Weather: Tornadoes, Tempests, and Thunderous Skies in Word & Image, a collaboration of Caryn's poetry and Stephen Locke's weather photography; and Poem on the Range, a memoir on being the Kansas Poet Laureate during a time of political and artistic upheaval. Caryn teaches at Goddard College in the Goddard Graduate Institute, leads community writing workshops widely, and with singer Kelley Hunt, offers Brave Voice writing and singing workshops and performances. She also is active in the Transformative Language Arts Network.
