Claire Wardle is a Research Fellow at the Tow Center for Digital Journalism, Columbia University. MA and PhD, Thouron Fellow, University of Pennsylvania. Formerly: taught at Cardiff University School of Journalism; then designed, developed and implemented the social media training programme for BBC News; freelance consultant with newsrooms, NGOs, governments around the world, including 12 months at Storyful, the world's first social media news agency; Research Fellow, Tow Center for Digital Journalism, Columbia University, working on a major research project on user-generated content and television news. Currently, Senior Social Media Officer, UNHCR, leading the strategic planning and implementation of social media across the organization. Expertise: social media, UGC and verification.
