For nearly 15 years, Cora Neumann has collaborated with local and national leaders in over 30 countries to help them improve the lives of women and families. In 2009, Cora co-founded the RAND African First Ladies Initiative, now the Global First Ladies Alliance. Through annual leadership trainings and on-going mentoring, Cora directly advises First Ladies on programmatic and policy initiatives, best methods for aligning with Presidents’ offices and ministries, and facilitates productive collaborations between First Ladies and multiple global institutions.
Most recently, Cora oversaw policy and women’s initiatives at Care.com, the world’s largest online destination for care. Prior to joining Care.com, Cora served as a Franklin Fellow under Secretary Hillary Clinton at the U.S. Department of State. In her role as senior advisor on women’s economic empowerment, she helped develop and lead the African Women’s Entrepreneurship Program, WEAmericas, Middle East Women’s Entrepreneurship Alliance (MEWEA), and Women Up, an outcome of the Secretary’s International Council on Women’s Business Leadership.
Additional prior experience includes advising or consulting for the Bush Institute, Clinton Global Initiative, Global Health Access Program, World Health Organization, Columbia University Medical School and the United Nations.
Cora holds a MPH in global public health from Columbia University, and a PhD in international development at the University of Oxford, UK. She sits on numerous advisory committees, including the Institute for Global Engagement, Asian University for Women, WIE Africa, the Millennial Trains Project and Advanced Development for Africa.
