Gagan Gupta

I am president and country head of Gabon for Olam International Ltd.

Gagan Gupta is a President of Olam International Ltd. and is currently Olam’s Country Head in Gabon. He joined Olam in 2009, was appointed Chief Executive Officer of Gabon Special Economic Zone with effect from July 2010 and has led the transformational growth of Olam in Gabon. He conceptualized the idea of Special Economic Zones and other public private partnerships with the Government of Gabon. The PPP between Olam and the Government of Gabon has been an outstanding success story. As such, he promotes a close relationship between Olam and the Republic of Gabon based on mutual advantage and sustainable development. With over 15 years of experience, he is a chartered accountant by profession and has attracted more than US$7 billion investment in Gabon. He oversees 6,600 staff based out of nine different locations and seven business units (Palm, Rubber, SEZ, Fertilizer, Infrastructures - Ports & Mineral Ports, GRAINE Plantations’ smallhoders programme) representing investment of over US$5 billion. Olam International is a leading global integrated supply chain manager and processor of agricultural products and food ingredients, supplying various products across 16 platforms to over 13,600 customers worldwide. From a direct presence in more than 65 countries with sourcing and processing in most major producing countries, Olam has built a global leadership position in many of its businesses. Olam is the only Singapore firm to be named in the 2009, 2010 and 2012 Forbes Asia Fabulous 50, an annual list of 50 big-cap and most profitable firms in the region. He has previously served at global companies including Reebok and Reckitt Benckiser. Gagan Gupta was nominated twice at the 2012 African Business Awards for his work with Olam in Gabon in the categories of Investor of the Year and Award for Innovation and given highest civilian order award by Government of Gabon.
