David Shepler

David Shepler currently works in IBM Research as the Jeopardy! Challenge Program Manager, responsible for managing the events and planning for IBM's grand challenge to compete its cutting edge question-answer technology against human Jeopardy! champions to demonstrate advances in automated question-answering. David joined IBM as a strategy consultant after serving in the U.S. Air Force as an intelligence officer. He holds masters degrees in policy analysis from the RAND graduate school and in public management from the University of Maryland, School of Public Affairs. He received his bachelor of science degree from the U.S. Air Force Academy in 1992. David has a personal passion for alternative energy and energy efficiency technologies, and constantly looks for ways to encourage widespread adoption of smarter building practices and technologies.
