Lives and works and rows and swims in San Francisco

Diane Walton, born in Portland, Oregon, grew up in Capitola, CA and now lives and works and rows and swims in San Francisco. Her work history is too long to list; highlights include serving as Director of the State Commission on Children and Families and working for Gov. Barbara Roberts in Oregon. She has worked on workforce issues at the state, local and federal levels and continues to believe that helping people get jobs matters. She serves on the Board of Stewards of the Relief Nursery in Eugene, Oregon and is President of the Dolphin Swimming & Boating Club in San Francisco. Her mother, born in Canada and raised in Seattle, was a Yankees fan, but was broad-minded enough to take Diane to Giants' games throughout her childhood. Diane's academic career makes her both a banana slug and a duck (BA, UC Santa Cruz, Ph D from the University of Oregon). She teaches Pilates here and there, and continues to learn, everywhere.
