Dianne Hales is a prize-winning journalist and author—and an Italian knight. In recognition of La Bella Lingua: My Love Affair with Italian, the World's Most Enchanting Language, the President of Italy conferred on Dianne the highest honor its government can bestow on a foreigner, the title of Cavaliere dell' Ordine della Stella della Solidarietà Italiana (Knight of the Order of the Star of Italian Solidarity). Dianne ‘s other books include Mona Lisa: A Life Discovered, Just Like a Woman, Caring for the Mind and 27 editions of the leading college health text, An Invitation to Health. She has served as a contributing editor for Parade, Ladies Home Journal, Working Mother, and American Health and has written for numerous national publications, including The New York Times, Psychology Today and The Washington Post. Her writing awards include honors from the American Psychiatric Association, American Psychological Association, the Council for the Advancement of Scientific Education, the National Women's Political Caucus, and the New York City Public Library.
