Dr. Houriya Kazim is a United Arab Emirates national who is the country's first female surgeon. She attended medical school at the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland graduating in 1988; received a MPH from the University of Texas; and obtained her fellowship in general surgery before specializing in breast surgical oncology at the Royal Marsden Hospital in London. In addition to her clinical work, Dr. Kazim founded "Brest Friends," the only breast cancer support group in Dubai. She and her husband have two teenage daughters.
