Dr. Susan Wilson

Dr. Wilson was born on January 19th, 1957 in the south of England. Her father served in the RAF in Africa in WWII and his photographs and stories of the war and suffering made a huge impact on her, as did stories from African Missionaries who visited the Sunday school she attended.

Dr. Wilson moved to Scotland in 1970, where her interest in medicine was kindled after visiting her Dad in the hospital. She went to Aberdeen University at the age of 17 to start her career and did medical elective studies in Gambia, at the Medical Research Council Laboratories.

Dr. Wilson graduated in 1979 with a commendation as the most distinguished female graduate in her Medical Class (Louis Tomory prize) with a distinction in psychiatry.

Dr. Wilson worked for six months in the Royal Aberdeen Children’s Hospital in a surgical rotation and then for six months in the cardiology ward where she served under the Queens physician in Scotland and was thoroughly impressed by his Christian approach to medicine.

Dr. Wilson returned to her hometown of Banchory, in 1983 where she married and had three sons, and began her work as a Partner at the Queens Road Medical Practice Partnership. She currently works at Queens Road as a part-time partner due to her work now as CEO of the Tumaini Fund.
