Development innovator tackling CVE, conflict prevention, and private sector engagement

Elise Barry is a development innovator with a background in conflict resolution, CVE, security studies, and private sector engagement. She currently works in the Secure Communities practice area at SSG Advisors, a global development solutions firm, on projects related to CVE and private sector engagement in Africa and the Middle East. Under one of these projects, she facilitates an online community of practice focused on CVE and compiles a weekly CVE Roundup of thought that you can follow here: storify.com/CVEForum. Prior to SSG, Elise worked for the International Rescue Committee in Ethiopia, supporting relief and development projects in refugee camps. Previously, she also worked for the Wilson Center on a program focused on conflict resolution, peace-building, and state-building in Africa. Elise holds a Post-Graduate Certificate in International Conflict Management from Johns Hopkins SAIS and the International Peace & Security Institute and a B.S. in International Politics from Georgetown University. Outside of the office, you can find Elise hiking a mountain, advocating for gender equality, taste testing maple creamees, or on a bike training for her next century ride, which she hopes will not involve thunderstorms this time.
